Coaching
Many clubs within DWAA have a qualified coach, and these should be approached if you require help with your shooting. As County Coaching Organiser, I may be able to put you in touch with a coach in your area, if your club does not have one.

Becoming a Coach
Anyone wishing to become a coach, or furthering their qualification, should contact the County Coaching Organiser.
DWAA in conjunction with GWAS organises Coach training courses for:

Recent Events
In the recent past, the following events have been organised for coaches in DWAA:

Courses can only take place when a viable number of candidates have registered an interest. However, it may be possible to put people onto courses in other parts of GWAS.

Coach Renewals
Coach renewal claims should be sent to the C.C.O., along with all of the relevant work record logs. The renewal panel will then process these.

Level 2 Upgrades: There are now upgrade packs for those existing Coaches who need to upgrade to Level 2, this must be done by 2012. contact Hannah Bussey at Archery GB for details. CRB renewal is the responsibility of each coach, and there will not be any reminder from Archery GB that renewal is due.

The DWAA Coaching Conference took place at the Supermarine Sports & Social Club, Swindon on Sunday 18th April 2010. We had a packed agenda with the updates on Level 1 & Level 2. There was also a presentation on Disabled archery which was a taster for the Regional Conference which will take place at Williton, Somerset on the 23rd October. We also had some very interesting presentations from Gloria Mead, Graham & Kay Hobbs & Geoff Gunson.

We hosted a Compound Masterclass with Graham Weller of Wales Archery on the 31st October 2010. This was held at the Supermarine Sports & Social Club at South Marston Near Swindon originally intended as a Coach training day, there was so much interest that it was decided to open the event to all archers! We had a fantastic attendance and the event was very well received. Graham's seminars are always extremely informative, easy to understand and he has a wealth of knowledge to share!

The Regional Coaching Conference took place on the 23rd October at Danesfield School, Williton, Somerset. The theme of the conference was Disability Awareness and the main speakers were Tim Hazell & Pippa Britton. Tim is the head coach for the GB Paralympic Squad and is based at Lilleshall.
Pippa is a Paralympic GB team Member who won a Gold medal at the Beijing Olympic games in 2008. Pippa is often seen in tournaments around these parts and will be bringing her medal with her.
There were also presentations on Working with Spinal Injuries, Visually Impaired archery and Disabled Classifications amongst others.
The conference was extremely informative and the delegates learned about the various disabilities and how best to work with the archers to achieve results! We are already working on the next one which we hope will involve sessions with some of the country's top archers.
