Coaching in Dorset & Wiltshire Archery Association
Coaching
Many clubs within DWAA have a qualified coach, and these should be
approached if you require help with your shooting. As County Coaching Organiser,
I may be able to put you in touch with a coach in your area, if your club
does not have one.
Becoming a Coach
Anyone wishing to become a coach, or furthering their qualification, should
contact the County Coaching Organiser.
DWAA in conjunction with GWAS organises Coach training courses for:
- County Coaches
- Club Coaches (Level 2)
- Level 1 Coach
- Leaders (non GNAS members)
Recent Events
In the recent past, the following events have been organised for coaches in
DWAA:
- A rollout course for mentors, internal assessors, course managers and tutors, in order that coaches may assist on Level 1 courses.
- A Level 1 course
- An update course for Assistant coaches to become regraded as Level 1 coaches.
- 2 Child and Vulnerable Adults Protection courses (one in Bournemouth and one in Swindon). These courses are designed for both coaches, any other adult in the club who has dealings with junior archers and Child Protection Officers.
- A DWAA coaches conference.
Courses can only take place when a viable number of candidates have registered an interest. However, it may be possible to put people onto courses in other parts of GWAS.
Coach Renewals
Coach renewal claims should be sent to the C.C.O., along with all
of the relevant work record logs. The renewal panel will then process these.
Registered coaches will receive copies of the GWAS Coaching Bulletin, and
be advised of regional coaching conferences or workshops.
